 Cellulite Can Be Treated Cellulite is a nagging problem for many women, even those who work hard to keep fit. The reason is that cellulite is not a fat problem - it's a skin problem. Recent studies have revealed two major causes of cellulite. The first is a hardening of the connective tissue support system of fat. These are referred to as connective tissue (fibrous) septae.These are made of collagen. Over time, these septae harden and contract. The contraction results in most of the dimpled appearance that characterizes cellulite. Additionally, the contraction leads to a blockage of the blood vessels and lymphatics. The blood vessel blockage further hardens the septae. The lymphatic blockage leads to thick, swollen appearing skin. The second major cause of cellulite is protrusion of fat cells into the lower part of the skin known as the "reticular dermis". This protrusion results in worsening of the dimpling. Acoustic Wave Therapy (AWT) represents a new approach to cellulite treatment. AWT uses pressure waves that impact both of the major causes of cellulite: fibrous septae and protrusion of fat into the lower dermis. The laser light emitted by the Mediostar XT is absorbed by the pigment (melanin) located in hair follicles, melanin pigments give hair its color, and hair shaft. The laser pulses for a fraction of a second, just long enough to vaporize the pigment in the hair follicle- disabling several hair follicles at a time to eliminate or significantly impede the hair's regrowth - but not long enough to damage the surrounding skin. The Mediostar XT's special contact-cooling hand piece further protects the epidermis (upper layer of skin). This patented method of epidermal preservation allows delivery of more laser energy deeper into the hair follicle. The number of sessions needed to achieve best results will vary for each individual. During the initial visit, the laser light disables those follicles in the "active" phase of the growth cycle. Follicles in the "dormant" phase will not be affected. Since follicles cycle through "active" and "dormant" phases, additional sessions may be desired once the "dormant" follicles become "active". For this reason, we recommend a series of five or six treatments.

Initially introduced for treatment of ophthalmologic and neurologic muscular diseases, it is now also used for the cosmetic reduction of facial expression lines.
Botox™ acts by immobilizing the muscle, at treated sites. It does this by inhibiting contraction of the targeted muscles. Only those muscles producing these undesirable lines are treated.
A small quantity of Botox™ is injected directly into the muscles that are the cause of the prominent furrowing or expression lines. Typically several injections are given with each treatment, and one treatment is usually effective for 3-6 months. Each patient metabolizes Botox at different rates so the treatment may last longer or may not last as long.
Restylane is a long-lasting and crystal-clear gel for filling out lips, facial wrinkles and facial folds. Thanks to Q-Med's stabilization process the hyaluronic acid in Restylane is almost identical to that naturally found in the body and only very slightly modified (0.5 - 1%). Clinical Facials - Chemical Peels
